WHY THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET?
The Mediterranean diet is a well-researched dietary pattern associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and cognitive decline. It emphasizes high intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and olive oil; moderate consumption of fish, poultry, and dairy; and limited intake of red meat, refined carbohydrates, and added sugars. The Mediterranean diet is also rich in fiber, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory nutrients, supporting overall metabolic and chronic disease prevention.
The Mediterranean diet is balanced, sustainable, non-restrictive, and delicious. More than just a diet, it’s a sustainable lifestyle that supports long-term health, longevity, and enjoyment of food.
