Why Consult a Family Nutritionist?

Family Nutrition Counseling by Kelly Powers

As a Registered Dietitian and Culinary Nutritionist, private chef, kitchen manager, and nanny for over 15 years, I'm here to help you get back in the kitchen so you can feed yourself and your family well.

I know it’s not an easy task. We live in a world where we’re overworked and expected to do it all — have a job, be a good parent, keep your partner happy, manage household chores, and maintain friendships. The list goes on and on. You’re likely stretched thin and don’t have the time or brain space left for food and nutrition.

But here’s the thing …

You WANT to feed your family well.

They mean everything to you, and you care deeply about their health and well-being. I get it. By merging my training as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with my kitchen experience and time spent working with families, I’m well-equipped to help you navigate food and nutrition in a simple and stress-free way, so you can take care of yourself and those you love.

As a family nutritionist, I’m dedicated to helping families lead healthy, fulfilling lives through proper nutrition. The foundation of good health starts with what we eat, and I’m passionate about empowering families with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed food choices with my healthy family meal plans.

I understand that every family is unique and has different nutritional needs and preferences. That's why I take a personalized approach to family nutrition counseling, working closely with each family to understand their individual needs and goals. Whether you want to improve overall health, manage a medical condition, or make healthier food choices, I’ll work with you to create customized healthy family meal plans that meet your needs. My approach is to incorporate wholesome, nutrient-dense foods into delicious, family-friendly meals that everyone will love.

 Imagine this …

  • Imagine having 1:1 support and guidance from a culinary dietitian and family nutritionist who wants to help you find ease around food and nutrition while gaining confidence in the kitchen.

  • Imagine having a realistic and sustainable plan so you have a roadmap to improving your family’s health.

  • Imagine looking at the week ahead and not worrying about what you’re going to eat, and instead, knowing you’ll have nourishing, well-balanced meals ready for you to put together in a matter of minutes.

  • Imagine feeling stress-free about food and instead focusing your energy on things that are important to you, like your kid’s education, sports, and after-school activities.

  • Imagine having a few moments to breathe and reconnect throughout the day.

  • Imagine sitting down to a nourishing, delicious, and stress-free dinner with your family on a daily basis.

  • Imagine a future where you know how to fuel yourself well and are able to take care of those around you.

It’s possible, and I can help you get there.

I specialize in culinary nutrition, sustainable behavior change, intuitive and mindful eating, disease management, sustainable weight management, healing from chronic dieting, children and family feeding, and kitchen management.

Kelly is responsive, supportive, communicative and overall lovely to work with. If you are like me and just want real, useful, tailored, (and tasty!) advice and guidance on how to care for yourself, please reach out to Kelly!

Interested? Here’s how family nutrition counseling works.

First, book a free 20 minute introductory call. We’ll talk about your household needs, the challenges you currently face, and what you’d like to gain from working with a dietitian. This is an opportunity for us to see if we are a good fit to work together.

Next, if it feels right, we’ll enter into a coaching relationship. That means we’ll meet every other week for two months via video conference and together we’ll explore the factors that impact you and your family’s nutrition and dietary intake.

From there, we’ll create a realistic and sustainable plan so you have a roadmap to finding more ease and joy in the kitchen — so that you can feel confident about what you’re feeding your family for years to come. I’ll hold you accountable and support you every step of the way.

In addition to 1:1 video sessions, you’ll also receive several additional forms of support including unlimited text and email support, recipes and meal plan guidelines, and a variety of tools, practices, and worksheets tailored to you and your household preferences and goals.

Working with Kelly has been truly transformative for our entire family. The Kitchen Makeover has elevated our approach to food and nourishment in a way I never would have accomplished by myself. Kelly’s recipes are delicious and emphasize amazing ingredients and great food. As a lover of food, I appreciate that Kelly focuses on flavors and the entire meal experience. This has allowed us to successfully transition from a takeout family to a family who prioritizes healthy, nourishing, and delicious meals. This experience has never felt like a diet or a restriction.

The energy I feel from changing the way I approach food is second to none. I never thought it would be this easy and enjoyable to make such a significant lifestyle change. Kelly is extremely supportive and flexible. She has been available to me not only through our scheduled coaching sessions, but also ad hoc when I need recipe inspiration or help approaching a meal out. She has customized this experience for me and my family down to our schedules, preferences, and even pantry organization! I appreciate how Kelly can cater to the different needs of our entire family, including my toddler. Prioritizing my own health feels great in the context of knowing I’m also nourishing my daughter in the best way I can.

Kelly is not only an expert in nutrition, but she is truly a kind and great person to work with. I cannot recommend her services more highly.
